Boy into Crocodile Monster
The writer missed the opportunity to add a bit of
foreshadowing to the episode.We know there are 2
of these crocodile monster covered in black
rabbit fur after the kids tf.One missed
opportunity
-at beginning during circus act other croc monster
breaks loose and sticks his long snout with the
pointy teeth ,drool covered long tongue and
foul carnivores breath in the kids face.The kid
naturally is all open eyes,bawling and tears,little knowing that within a hour he'll
have his own snouty drool covered pointy teeth and tongue.
the animator recycles cels,at 1 fps you see the
animation often reuses a cel previously seen a
cel or two before in the sequence.
I'd guess the "in joke" is that screen of
Otto's showing a rabbit and a crocodile.I'd
guess this is a nod to the rabbit>>dragon
notion as seen in other stories and cartoons.
Motif wise? timid kid into big toothy beast
a wolf in sheeps clothing
( assuming those are rams horns on the monster
what you've got is a hungry predatory crocodile
monster(see how the transformed kid surveys his
older siblings/parents before heeding the call
of the ringmaster)in a guise of a rabbit-sheep,
rabbit-sheep meek mild timid
A similar motif appears in Tales of the Cryptkeepe
where the bullied geek weakling buys a werewolf
potion at a shop and lets out the wolf.
