This could just be my computer (since it is rather feeble). Nevertheless, whenever I try to upload an image for my avatar or for portrait (no matter the file type, or size) it does not go through.

Oh you can see it? I don't see any avatar (both) for me, although I can see anyone else that has one.

Are you refering to your view in the preference page, or in a comment?
Could you post the URL of the page you're referring too, so that I can have a view of it?

First issue: For your user page http://www.shadowlordinc.com/user/ , your browser is probably caching your avatar. Try hitting the refreshing button while holding the SHIFT key.
Second issue: The forum and sites avatar are 2 distinct entities. So you need to upload an avatar for the forum.
You can access your personal setting for the forum in the "My Profile" menu above and upload your avatar.
